Analysis of physico –chemical Parameters of soils collected from Brahmaputra river of Dhubri district, Assam, India

Anthropogenic activities have made us an utmost concern to know the status of soil health as it is an important natural resource on the earth. In the present study the impact of physico-chemical parameters of selected soils of riverbed of Brhmaputra river, Dhubri district in Assam were observed. The soil characterization was carried out. For Parameters like pH, Total organic Carbon, Electrical conductivity, bulk density, porosity, water holding capacity, moisture content, sodium, potassium, calcium magnesium, aluminium, chloride, nitrate, etc. During the course of study period, fluctuation in the various parameters was recorded. The variety of values was observed in different parameters due to soil quality in different places. The physico-chemical analysis of test soil samples under study shows different concentrations of various parameters at various locations/sites. The results revealed variations in soil composition, influenced by natural sediment deposition and anthropogenic activities. Soils exhibited a near neutral to slightly basic pH range, moderate organic carbon levels, and varying nutrient availability, reflecting the region’s unique alluvial characteristics. The analysis revealed the ideal range of most of the nutritive content in the soil.
