Application of the methodology for modeling thesubsolidus phase composition within the framework of multicomponent oxide systems for controlling the slag regime of oxygen converter melting

A theoretical study of the subsolidus phase structure of multicomponent oxide systems CaO‒MgO‒Al 2 O 3 ‒SiO 2 ‒FeO‒Fe 2 O 3 and CaO‒MgO‒Al 2 O 3 ‒SiO 2 ‒MnO‒TiO2 has been carried out. The separation of the CaO‒MgO‒Al 2 O 3 ‒SiO 2 ‒MnO‒TiO 2 system into ensembles of mutually coexisting phases using the concept of optical basicity of oxide compounds is proposed. A technique for modeling the equilibrium phase composition within these systems based on their subsolidus phase structure is proposed. This technique is the basis for estimating the liquidus temperature and determining the areas of primary crystallization of phases based on the chemical composition of the slags of the converter process. The developed methodology and software based on it can be used to determine the limits of solubility of refractory phases in slag melts, and to numerically evaluate the slag corrosion of the lining of an oxygen converter.
