Surface Deformation Monitoring in the Xidatan-Kunlun Mountain Pass Region Based on Time-series InSAR Technology

The interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) theoretical approach, famous as a conventional and powerful surface deformation monitoring method, can efficiently and conveniently obtain large-scale ground surface deformation. This paper utilizes the LiCSAR products and LiCSBAS toolkit to automate the calculation of surface deformation in the Xidatan-Kunlun Mountain Pass region in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It conducts an in-depth analysis of the ground surface deformation in the Xidatan-Kunlun Mountain Pass area via combining Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image acquisition dates. The results indicate that the surface deformation values in the Xidatan-Kunlun Mountain Pass region were mostly concentrated between -23.756 mm/year and 20.641 mm/year from December 9, 2014, to November 9, 2022, and showed an overall regional stability trend with time increasing. The time-series ground surface cumulative deformation velocity are concentrated between -1.0 m and 1.0 m, and there are some clear settlement zones. This research aims to introduce innovative methods and options for ground surface deformation monitoring using InSAR technology, leveraging big data, cloud platforms, and cloud computing. These advancements will establish a robust foundation for future large-scale surface deformation monitoring projects.
