Future Collaboration between the United States and Japan for Possible Development of a Japan GHG Center

To achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, national efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions must accelerate. The United States has committed to reducing GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 (relative to 2005 levels) and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. In December 2023, the U.S. GHG Center was launched to implement the national GHG strategy. The center is hosted by four agencies: the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
