Investigation of the wear resistance of surface layered by MMA and carbonitriding layers on structural alloy steel

Abstract. This study investigates the wear resistance of surfaces layered by MMA welding followed by carbonitriding, deposited on a 40X structural alloy steel. The primary objective is to develop a technology for restoring worn surfaces of shafts operating in marine environments. Wear resistance was evaluated using a "block-on-ring" test. The microstructure and properties of the obtained layers were analyzed using standard metallographic techniques, including macro and microstructural analysis and microhardness testing. The results of this study will serve as a basis for developing an effective repair technology for shafts used in marine equipment.
