Multiboot of K7 FPGA based on MicroBlaze soft core
With the continuous development of embedded system-on-chip, it has become a trend to add MicroBlaze soft core to Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) to complete the design and development of system communication and external interface control. The Multi-boot function of the FPGA provides a multi-mirror boot solution. It can realize the remote update of the FPGA configuration image without modifying additional hardware circuits on the premise that the device is powered on continuously. In addition, if the image switchover fails, the FPGA can return back to a secure image to ensure the remote update security. Based on MicroBlaze soft core, DDR3 external cache device and FLASH peripheral memory device, the multi-boot of the underlying algorithm program and application program is realized on Kintex7 FPGA. The detailed steps of software design are given for how to realize the multi-boot of the underlying logic program and the processing system application program respectively. The method has been verified in the infrared photoelectric system.
