Study of high-repetition-rate THz parametric oscillator based on electro-optic Q-switched laser
In this paper, an extra-cavity terahertz parametric source based on the stimulated polariton scattering in MgO: LiNbO3 crystal has been demonstrated using a high-repetition-rate electro-optic Q-switched Nd: YAG laser. The pumping 1064nm laser run under 1 kHz repetition frequency with the pulse width of 12ns. The maximum average THz output power of 23.37 μW has been obtained at 1.78 THz when the pump power was 7.26 W. The corresponded THz conversion efficiency was 3.22×10-6. The tunable THz frequency was in the range 1.0-3.19 THz. This kind of THz parametric source with high-repetition-rate and high peak power can meet the requirement in many applications.
