Analysis of psychological features of youth with eating disorders

The The article analyzes the psychological characteristics of young people with eating disorders. It was found that such individuals are characterized by a higher level of stress compared to healthy young people. This stress can be caused by various factors, including internal psychological conflicts and external negative influences. The study used various methods, in particular, such as the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ), Eating Disorder Inventory (EDI), Body Image Questionnaire (BOI). This made it possible to analyze in detail various aspects of eating behavior and its relationship with psychological stress. Some participants in the study showed an excess of indicators on two (and sometimes even three) scales, which indicates the presence of a mixed type of eating disorder. This indicates, that different types of eating disorders can interact with each other and reinforce each other. It is worth noting that such a phenomenon reflects the complexity and multifactorial nature of eating disorders, emphasizing the need for an integrated approach to their diagnosis and treatment. A direct interaction between eating disorders and the level of psychological stress has been confirmed, namely: individuals who experience eating disorders are at higher risk of developing stress, and vice versa – higher levels of stress can contribute to the emergence or exacerbation of eating disorders. This interaction has a significant impact on the subjective well-being of the individual. Individuals with eating disorders and high levels of stress are more likely to experience deterioration in the quality of life, a sense of dissatisfaction and depression. On the other hand, those who are able to effectively manage stress and maintain a healthy lifestyle tend to have higher levels of satisfaction with their own lives and overall well-being. Understanding the internal mechanisms that underlie these disorders can contribute to the development of effective and innovative approaches to treatment
