European interest will spur Tunis’s clean energy drive
Significance After years of stasis, Tunisia's renewables sector is gradually starting to advance. International investors are also showing mounting interest in exploiting renewables to produce green hydrogen for export to Europe. The Gulf Arab and Western European states will be major sources of clean energy investment. Natural aridity and rising global temperatures rule out significant expansion of Tunisia's 62 megawatts of hydropower capacity.
