A Força Aérea Brasileira na Segunda Guerra Mundial
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) played a crucial role during World War II, particularly in its alliance with the United States. The FAB was formally established on May 22, 1941, from the military aviation of the Army and Navy, becoming an essential component of the Brazilian Armed Forces. Concerned about the security of the Hemisphere, Brazil aligned itself with the USA to prevent hostile nations from having footholds in the region. During the war, the FAB participated in significant operations in Italy, conducting over 2,500 sorties and contributing to the Allied war effort. The collaboration with the USA not only strengthened Brazil's military capacity but also fostered a closer relationship between the two countries.
