This article presents a novel detector concept that optimizes the Micro Pattern Gas Detector (MPGD) geometry for low-cost, large-area applications while maintaining comparable performance. The project’s aim is to demonstrate a complete proof-of-concept for a tubular μ RWELL detector ( μ Rtube). This prototype integrates the best features of several technologies into an innovative geometry, significantly reducing the number of electronic channels per unit area. The μ Rtube advances MPGD technology to an unprecedented curvature radius (less than 1 cm) for imaging and particle identification applications. A short report on the detector concept, full simulation results, and test beam validation will be presented.
