The research experience: reflections on the autoethnography method

This article presents a study, developed through a literature review, about a qualitative method, the autoethnography. Initially, an approach based on analysis implication is carried out, with authors such as Baremblitt, Lourau, Coimbra, among others, focusing on this device of Institutional Analysis, to point out its possible articulation with autoethnography. Next, after a brief approach to ethnography with Geertz and Clifford, the autoethnographic method is examined, with references from Versiani, Santos, Adams, Jones, Bochner, Ellis and others. The development of Autoethnography is defined by the Ethnography itself, even with specific differences between researchers on the specifics of its use. The use of autoethnography in social work is emphasized specially in institutional contexts, understanding its potential. It is stated that it may be used successfully to study the social field and may be or not be used alongside other methods.

The use of autoethnography in social work is emphasized specially in institutional contexts, understanding its potential.
