Comparative Analysis of Carbon Fiber Composite Sandwich Structures for Enhanced Boat Safety
Ensuring the safety of vessels at sea is paramount due to potential hazards such as rocks, other vessels, or offshore structures. Collisions with these obstacles present a considerable threat to the structural integrity of ships and the safety of passengers. This research investigates safety in the context of high-performance, ultra-lightweight ships, focusing on innovative hull designs using sandwich construction. The study specifically compares two types of carbon fiber composite sandwich structures. Emphasis is placed on experimental impact tests conducted to measure the energy absorption capabilities of these structures during maritime accidents. The findings underscore how the use of carbon fiber composites optimizes the balance between lightness and strength, demonstrating that advanced composite technologies significantly enhance safety while maintaining high performance. Through rigorous testing, the study confirms the effectiveness of structural innovations in improving the resilience of high-speed vessels.
