Development of a Pedestrian Target for Testing Driver Assistance Systems
This article is devoted to the issue of creating a mobile pedestrian target for testing active driver assistance systems and unmanned vehicles. Working out various road situations is the basis for confirming the functionality of the car. And for unmanned vehicles, this is one of the final stages of safety testing and confirmation of operational characteristics. Systems specially designed for use in field testing conditions allow to increase the number of scenarios, and thereby improve the quality of checking the operation of algorithms from the point of view of functional safety of unmanned vehicles. The article describes in detail the requirements for a pedestrian target based on international standards. The article discusses the methods of testing driver assistance systems with the participation of vulnerable road users. The authors presented a description of the manufactured prototype of a pedestrian target and a foot drive control system.
