Gas Pipeline Rust Detection System Using Internet of Things
This project focuses on the development of an IoT -based gas pipeline rust detection system using the NodeMCU ESP8266, a voltage sensor, and a rusted iron pipe, with real-time monitoring via the Blynk app and ThingSpeak for visualization. Recent rust detection techniques rely on complex sensors, high-cost hardware, which face challenges such as high deployment costs, limited scalability, and the need for frequent maintenance. The proposed system addresses these challenges by offering a low-cost solution that measures voltage changes on the pipe's surface to detect rust. Challenges such as wireless data transmission reliability, and accurate rust detection were tackled in the design. It is powered by a 12V supply and programmed using Arduino IDE, the system enhances pipeline maintenance and safety by detecting rust early, thus preventing leaks and potential hazards. The integration of IoT technology in this system demonstrates the potential for scalable, smart industrial maintenance solutions.
