An Application of the Extended Maximum Entropy Principle for the Spectral Analysis of Ship Motions
This study introduces a framework for applying Maximum Entropy Methods (MEMs) to estimate directional wave spectra from ship motions. Validated through time-domain simulations, the method offers a cost-efficient and accurate approach to sea state estimation, crucial for efficient maritime operations and safety. The Extended Maximum Entropy Principle (EMEP) is utilised, demonstrating promising precision in mean wave direction estimation, with further research suggested for peak direction accuracy and multimodal wave system analysis.
