Reduced Time-Delay Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Areal Density of Lithium-Ion Battery
In the coating production process of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), areal density has a significant impact on the energy density and cycle life of the battery. To address the control challenges in the LIBs areal density system, which is characterized by variable parameters, large disturbances, and significant time delays, a reduced time-delay active disturbance rejection control (RT-ADRC) method is proposed. First, the coating principle of LIBs is introduced, and an areal density model is established. A low-pass filter is then added to suppress noise in areal density detection. Furthermore, the RT-ADRC structure is developed by modifying the conventional ADRC controller. Simulation results demonstrate that RT-ADRC offers good dynamic performance and robustness, improving the control effectiveness of the areal density system. Actual applications on LIBs coating production lines confirm that RT-ADRC effectively controls the areal density system. The coefficient of variation of areal density is reduced from 0.21% to 0.13%, and the areal density process capability index is increased from 1.42 to 2.46, validating the effectiveness of the proposed RT-ADRC method.
