Integration of Solar Photovoltaic System and Water Filter: A Sustainable Energy Solution for Clean Water Supply

Access to clean water is a fundamental human necessity, yet many remote areas continue to struggle with this challenge. This study investigates the integration of solar photovoltaic systems with water filtration technologies as an innovative approach to address this issue. Utilizing the Research and Development (R&D) methodology, the study progresses through four key stages: problem identification, system design, development, and evaluation. The proposed system incorporates a 3,000 Wp solar panel, a 3,000-Watt controller, a 180 Watt water pump, a 16-inch water filtration unit, and a 45 Watt UV sterilizer. The results indicate that the system can generate 11.25 kWh of electrical energy and produce 7,200 liters of clean water per day, achieving an energy efficiency of 92%. Water quality analysis reveals a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level ranging from 215 to 226 ppm and a pH level between 7.92 and 7.95. A cost comparison with conventional systems demonstrates potential annual savings of IDR 492,750 (approximately USD 30.5). This system aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 6 and 7 by enhancing access to clean water and promoting renewable energy utilization. The findings of this study underscore the effectiveness and sustainability of the integrated system in addressing clean water needs in remote areas while advancing the adoption of renewable energy sources.
