Comparative Analysis of PSI and SBAS InSAR in Landslide Monitoring: Influence of Topography and Precipitation Dynamics

This study investigates landslide activity in Sukajaya, Bogor, Indonesia, using Multi-Temporal Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (MT-InSAR) techniques, specifically Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) and Small Baseline Subset (SBAS), with Sentinel-1 data from 2019 to 2020. The research focuses on evaluating the spatial and temporal patterns of land displacement, comparing the strengths and limitations of PSI and SBAS, and analyzing their correlation with precipitation data to better understand environmental triggers of landslides. The results show that SBAS provides more extensive spatial coverage, capturing broader regional deformation and short-term fluctuations related to rainfall events. PSI, on the other hand, is more sensitive to localized, long-term displacement patterns, making it particularly suitable for monitoring more coherence areas. Discrepancies between the methods, particularly in areas with challenging topography, highlight the influence of DEM accuracy and SAR geometry. By integrating both techniques, this study offers a comprehensive approach to landslide monitoring, significantly improving early warning systems and disaster mitigation strategies in vulnerable regions.

Abstract

This study investigates landslide activity in Sukajaya, Bogor, Indonesia, using Multi-Temporal Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (MT-InSAR) techniques, specifically Persistent Scatterer Interferometry (PSI) and Small Baseline Subset (SBAS), with Sentinel-1 data from 2019 to 2020.
