High Sensitivity Chipless Tag Temperature Sensor with Wide Temperature Detection Range
To detect a wide temperature range, especially high temperatures, a chipless tag temperature sensor based on RCS alumina ceramic substrate is proposed in this paper, which can wirelessly detect ambient environmental temperature. This chipless sensor is nested with circular split-ring slots to form a temperature sensor with encoding function. The temperature measurement range of the sensor is between <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$28\ ^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$</tex> and <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$800^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$</tex>, and it also has a 3-bit ID encoding function. The obtained temperature sensitivity is <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$0.5331\ \text{MHz}/^{\circ}\mathrm{C}$</tex>. The proposed temperature sensor has the characteristics of wide temperature measurement range, high temperature robustness, passive wireless, simple structure, long service lifetime, and miniaturization. It can be widely used in temperature sensing of electric vehicle batteries and other fields that require high temperature detection.
