Study of the Absorbing Characteristics of Dryed Banana Leaves in the X-Band Using Optimization

Continuous improvement in electronic devices over the years has resulted in the emission of electromagnetic radiation, which has a significantly negative impact on living organisms. Therefore, the development of microwave absorber materials (MAM) is currently interesting topic by the researchers. The ecosystem and public health are threatened by agricultural waste absorbers made of materials like polyurethane and polystyrene are costly and harmful to the environment. In this study, the use of biomaterials from banana leaves provides alternative absorber materials due to their ability to mitigate electromagnetic waves. The proposed banana leaves with charcoal was designed in a rectangular shape with a size of 22.86 mm × 10.16 mm and a thickness of 7.91 mm which operates in the frequency range of 7–13 GHz. With a reconstruction algorithm, we revealed the material data of this absorber of ∊<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">r</inf> = 3, 5 - j0, 24 andμ<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">r</inf>= 1, 3 - j0, 007 and yields a reflection factor of -21 dB and an absorption of more than 30%.
