Adaptive Current Differential Protection Method Based on the Hausdorff Distance Algorithm
The integration of a large amount of distributed generation into the distribution network has changed its topology, and the traditional three-stage current protection method may have the possibility of mis-operation and rejection. Therefore, this paper proposes an adaptive current differential protection method based on the comparison of waveform similarity. After the fault, it extracts the information of positive current amplitude, and then introduces Hausdorff distance algorithm to quantify the waveform similarity, adjusts the braking coefficient of current differential protection according to the calculation results of Hausdorff distance, and realizes the accurate identification and processing of the fault. The simulation model of active distribution network is built in PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results show that this method can accurately operate under different fault types, fault locations, distributed power capacity, and transition resistance, and has high reliability and sensitivity.
