SmartBin+: Elevating Responsible Waste Disposal with Rewards

Waste disposal inefficiency is a major concern in urban environments. This study introduces SmartBin+, an IoT-based waste management solution using Raspberry Pi for object detection via deep learning and facial recognition. The system, integrated with an Android app, tracks garbage trucks, monitors waste collection, and incentivizes responsible disposal through rewards. It also encourages community participation through events with additional rewards. Initial results indicate SmartBin+ improves waste disposal and awareness, though scalability and sensor accuracy are challenges. The system aims to streamline waste management while addressing technical and ethical concerns. Further research is needed to explore these areas for broader implementation.
