Dynamic Modeling of APFC-type Electric Vehicle Chargers in a Wide Frequency Domain

The number of electric vehicles (EVs) and charging equipment has been rapidly increasing in recent years. As a typical nonlinear load, their impact on the quality of electrical energy in the grid is manifested in a wide frequency domain. Focusing on Active Power Factor Correction (APFC) chargers for EVs, this study elaborates on the generation of harmonic currents from both high-frequency and low-frequency perspectives, combined with the two-stage charging process of electric vehicles. It derives the formula for the native emission of harmonic currents and establishes a dynamic model of current sources in a wide frequency domain. Finally, through the comparative analysis of simulation and theoretical results, the correctness of the modeling method proposed in this paper is validated.
