Optimization Configuration Method for Harmonic Monitoring in Local Distribution Networks for Global Harmonics Improvement

The increase of nonlinear loads in distribution networks has led to a more serious harmonic issue and an increasing demand for monitoring and mitigation. The traditional configuration of monitoring and control equipment requires access to numerous devices, resulting in low efficiency and high costs. Aiming at global harmonic improvement, this article presents an optimal configuration method for harmonic monitoring devices. Firstly, the topology connectivity model is established based on the network topology for harmonic state estimation and observability analysis. Subsequently, the ant colony algorithm is adapted to determine the quantity and position of monitoring devices. Based on the optimal configuration result of harmonic monitoring devices, an improved multi-objective ant colony algorithm is proposed to solve the configuration of active power filters (APFs) to achieve global harmonic improvement. Then, an IEEE-18 bus test system that incorporates nonlinear loads is conducted in simulation. After configuring harmonic monitoring devices and APFs according to the results, the harmonic distortion in the distribution network can meet the recommended standard.
