A Low-Cost Datalogging and Telemetry IoT Platform for Remote Water Monitoring and Control
This paper describes the development of a new low-cost datalogging and telemetry hardware platform for remote water monitoring and control. The new system connects to a variety of analog, or digital sensors and can communicate with smart devices over SDI-12, RS 485, Serial UART, or I2C. The resulting data are automatically transmitted to a Cloud-based back-end data repository over a WiFi or Cellular network, and/or stored locally as backup or for manual collection over Bluetooth. The device can be powered from a variety of sources and consumes less than 1mA except during sampling or reporting instants.
