Automated Selection Prototype of LoRa Parameters to Optimize Power Consumption and Bit Rate
LoRa is a wireless communication technology widely used in IoT applications due to its long-range and low power consumption. However, its adaptability in diverse conditions can cause logistical challenges because of the multiple degrees of freedom in its configuration parameters. This proposal aims to automate the experimental search for configuration parameters that aim for low power consumption or high bit rate. To accomplish this purpose, a system prototype is designed to allow the evaluation of different combinations of these parameters, identifying optimal configurations through iteration. The parameters explored in this process are transmission power, spreading factor, and coding rate. The link quality analysis is performed in an offline process using RSSI, SNR, and packet delivery rate. The results show that the prototype can evaluate 60 different parameter combinations for a LoRa link using the REYAX RYLR896 transceiver within approximately 30 minutes, identifying the best parameter sets for each scenario tested.
