Assessment of the Impact of Materials and Production Technology on the Durability of Asphalt Concrete Structural Layers of Road Clothing
This paper discusses the influence of the materials included in the asphalt concrete mixture and its production technology on the quality of asphalt concrete and, consequently, on the durability of the road surface. It is shown that the condition of road pavement depends on many parameters: the quality of initial materials, production technology, operating conditions, as well as climatic features of the region. An example of defects roads that are directly related not only to the quality of materials, but also to external factors such as traffic intensity, temperature fluctuations, and humidity is given. Continuous improvements in materials and construction methods create more durable and resilient roadways, which ultimately contributes to better infrastructure and better lives for citizens. The need to continue the work on prediction and research of performance indicators using modern data analysis methods to improve the remaining life of roads is shown.
