Investigating Professional Volunteering Experiences in Humanitarian Engineering Projects

The goal of this work is to gain a broad understanding of the motivations, barriers, and career impacts for professional engineers participating in humanitarian engineering projects. Utilizing a survey and interview methodology, our study team is exploring the experiences of professional volunteers who have participated in Humanitarian Engineering (HE) programs. We anticipate findings to provide an improved understanding for how professional volunteer programs can better support, train, and incentivize professional engineers in carrying out humanitarian engineering work effectively.
