Directores de programa de pregrado: actores claves en el aseguramiento de la calidad en la formación inicial docente en una universidad chilena
This article emphasizes the contribution of quality assurance to initial teacher training. The general objective of the study was to understand the experience in the academic management of the undergraduate program directors of the Faculty of Education of a University in southern Chile, in the implementation of mechanisms for ensuring the quality of education (MEQE), to contribute to the continuous improvement of initial teacher training processes. The research corresponds to a multiple case study, which collects the experiences of 6 undergraduate program directors, using in-depth interviews. Among the findings, the lack of knowledge of MEQE’s is evident. These mechanisms are interpreted in various ways and not integrated into a quality assurance system. It is concluded that we are at a transition point, in which MEQE’s are not recognized theoretically, however, they are installed at a practical level.
