Rhodium(<scp>i</scp>)-catalyzed dearomative cycloisomerization of 1H-indole N-tethered o-alkynylphenyl nitrones and application to spirocyclic pyrido[1,2-a]indole synthesis

A Rh( i )-catalyzed method to prepare indoline-fused polycyclic tropanes from 1 H -indole N -tethered o -alkynylphenyl nitrone cycloisomerization and their Ce( iv )-mediated dealkylative spirocyclization is described.
