Exploring the Role of Magnetic Fields in Star Formation within Molecular Clouds
Star formation in molecular clouds is a complex process influenced by a variety of physical factors, including turbulence, gravity, and magnetic fields. This study examines the interplay between magnetic fields and gravitational collapse in star - forming regions of the Perseus molecular cloud using data from the ALMA and SOFIA observatories. By analyzing polarization patterns and velocity dispersion, we find evidence suggesting that magnetic fields play a critical role in regulating star formation efficiency. These findings improve our understanding of the fundamental mechanisms driving stellar genesis.
