Evaluating the Radiation Characteristics of the Metal Structures of RBMK-1000 Reactor Plants Shut Down for Decommissioning
To estimate the amount and characteristics of activated medium- and high-level radioactive waste produced in the course of decommissioning the power units with RBMK reactors, the radiation characteristics of the Leningrad NPP Unit 1 metal structures were numerically analyzed. The calculations were carried out according to the Monte Carlo method using the MCU-RBMK and Serpent software packages. An assessment of the probable distribution of metal structures by radioactive waste categories and classes taking into account changes in the radioactive waste classification system since January 1, 2024 is presented.
