The modern concept of labor-legal status of sportsmen-athletes

Motorsport is one of the most dynamic and hazardous forms of professional activity, requiring a special approach to the legal regulation of labor and the social protection of racing drivers. Racing drivers, as professional athletes, face unique working conditions and social risks, including high physical and psychological demands, the risk of injuries, and income instability. The topic of the article becomes more and more relevant in the conditions of commercialization of motorsport and its globalization. In different countries, including the US, UK, Italy, Germany and Russia, the legal status of road racers remains undefined, leading to differences in their rights and guarantees. They are often classified as independent contractors, which limits their protection and access to social benefits. The lack of specialized legislation creates legal insecurity and makes it difficult to protect the interests of athletes. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a unified law that will clearly regulate the labor relations of road racers, ensure their safety and guarantees, and adapt to international standards. It is also necessary to train specialized legal personnel who will be able, together with the sports federation, to protect and defend the rights of athletes and teams at the international level.
