Secrecy Performance Based on Parameter Estimation for Ultra-Violet Communication System

Ultra-violet (UV) communication systems with long pilot for synchronization and channel estimation may result in communication covertness degradation. In this paper, the performance of symbol duration and signal intensity estimation based on pilot-based and blind estimation methods are evaluated. The mean square error (MSE) performance is evaluated by Monte Carlo simulation, where duration <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$T$</tex> can be estimated with low MSE under known long pilot. For the blind estimation, the security can be improved via splitting long sequences.
