Enhancing Diabetes Management Through Mobile Applications: A Comprehensive Approach to Health Management

Mobile health interventions hold promise for improving diabetes self-management by empowering patients with personalized insights. This study presents a mobile application designed to support diabetic self-management. Users can record and track blood sugar levels along with timestamps and additional factors influencing glycemic control. The application analyzes this data using a rule-based reasoning method that considers factors like sugar level, potential risks, dietary intake, sleep duration, exercise, stress, smoking, and any interventions. Real-world testing with six diabetic participants over three days demonstrated the application's ability to identify individual patterns for each user. This personalized feedback can help users understand the factors influencing their blood sugar fluctuations and provide guidance for maintaining glycemic stability. While this study demonstrates the application's potential, further research is needed with a larger and more diverse participant pool.
