Energy Efficiency Improvement in One-Layer Rate-Splitting Multiple Access
Power distribution adjustment in Rate-Splitting (RS) is able to improve the sum-rate performance of multi-antenna systems. By adding a compensator at the transmitter, the channel might be compensated in, which it is possible to increase the sum rate in downlink communication networks. The addition of this compensator, however, requires more power to operate. This research discusses about the impact of adding a compensator on Energy Efficiency (EE) using 1-layer RS scheme in a Multiple-Input Single-Output (MISO) system. The performance of the system with the compensator is compared to the system without the compensator to evaluate its impact on EE. The proposed RS achieves an increase of 15% in energy efficiency compared to 1-layer RS when the power compensator is set to 20dBm. Although the presence of the compensator required additional power at the transmitter, the achieved EE is still better compared to the existing method.
