Do You See It? Aspects of Effective Visual Cueing
There are a variety of situations where individuals need to be provided with information regarding their environment. This may be the direction they need to move, the location of an object or person, when a particular event occurs, etc. Extended reality headsets (both augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)) provide for 3D spatial communication of these aspects; however, it is not as simple as rendering the visualization for the user. Aspects such as the number of cues, the system accuracy, cued design, and context may all affect the cueing benefits in mixed reality HMDs.
