25 Actioning the national action plan and national action alliance: from assessment to results

Description
Given recent setbacks and generally uneven progress in health care safety, there is renewed national attention and calls to healthcare and safety leaders to shift from “finding and fixing” to the intentional design of total system safety. Participants will gain practical insights from pioneering leaders who’ve paved the way using Safer Together: A National Action Plan to Advance Patient Safety (NAP). You’ll gain insights on the urgency for patients, regulators and payors, alignment with national initiatives - e.g. Health and Human Services (HHS) National Action Alliance, CMS Structural Measure, WHO Global Safety Plan - and learn how diverse organizations have used the NAP self-assessment to uncover opportunities to reenergize and provide constancy of purpose in safety. The session will share best practices in the 4 NAP Domains: Culture, Leadership & Governance; Patient & Family Engagement; Workforce Safety & Wellbeing; and Learning System. Faculty will share how they’ve created a voice for advocacy, leadership commitment, and created results-oriented action plans with lessons learned, practical tips and results. You’ll leave this session with inspiration, networking, a blueprint for deploying the NAP, and most importantly, becoming “safety ready, together”.

Abstract
