JOINT SPOROTRICHOSIS WITHOUT SKIN IMPACT IN AN IMMUNOCOMPETENT PATIENT: A CASE REPORT
Sporotrichosis is a mycotic infection typically associated with cutaneous manifestations and is caused by the fungal organism Sporothrix schenckii. While it primarily affects the skin through localized lesions, cases of joint infection, particularly in immunocompromised individuals, have been documented, though they remain rare. This article describes an atypical presentation of articular sporotrichosis in an immunocompetent patient with no visible cutaneous lesions, which posed diagnostic challenges due to the absence of common clinical markers. The discussion includes an in-depth analysis of the diagnostic process, therapeutic options, and the physiopathology underlying sporotrichosis with exclusive joint involvement. This case underscores the need for heightened clinical awareness, particularly in atypical presentations, to enable early diagnosis and intervention and thereby prevent potentially severe systemic effects, especially in patients with complex health backgrounds.
