Simulation of the thermal behavior of an asynchronous motor with various types of rotors

This paper presents a thermal analysis of an asynchronous motor to identify the components most sensitive to temperature increases, both in transient and steady-state conditions. Overheating in electrical machines is a critical issue in industry, leading to significant damage. Due to its serious consequences, this study provides a comprehensive thermal analysis of an asynchronous motor. A thermal network model is established to examine the motor's thermal behavior. The analysis is conducted on an asynchronous motor with four rotor types: a squirrel-cage rotor and three solid rotors (smooth, with copper layer and grooved). The power losses in electrical machine determine the yield of the machine and also the cooling that is necessary to solve the high heat limits. The ability to envision the temperature rise of induction motor is very important in the construction of this machine, however we can determine its performances. In the present work, we investigate that the heat dissipation plays primordial role in developing better performances motors. Obviously, the modification through geometry of rotor on induction motor can lead to best result. In the first stage the modification of ferromagnetic core, in second stage, the effect of ventilation is carried out .Simulations are performed using MOTOR CAD software.
