Lucio phenomenon presenting as purpura fulminans – A rare case report

Lucio phenomenon (LP) is a rare type of lepra reaction seen in untreated patients with diffuse non-nodular lepromatous leprosy, endemic in Mexico. It has also been reported in South Asian countries and there are only a few case reports from India. We report a case of a 48-year-old man who presented with necrotic ulcerative lesions and purpuric patches typical of Lucio phenomenon which appeared to be purpura fulminans.
