As a result of the study, it was found that during the period under review, the actual institutionalization of academic science took place in Yakutia. During the studied period, the Yakut base of the USSR Academy of Sciences appeared in the region, which was replaced by the Yakut branch. On the basis of the Yakut branch, in turn, the Yakut Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences was later established. There were 10 academic institutes within these structures. Four main mechanisms of the organization of these institutions were established, among which the key one is highlighted.
