Freedom from Stick

The Freedom from Stick project aims to enhance the independence of visually impaired individuals by integrating advanced technology into wearable glasses. This innovative solution employs an ESP32 CAM module for real time face detection and recognition, enabling users to identify familiar faces and understand their relationships (e.g., “Father arrived”). Additionally, the system incorporates emotion recognition to analyze facial expressions and provide audio feedback, such as “Father is happy.” To facilitate navigation, the glasses integrate voice activated commands that utilize a mapping API, guiding users with clear spoken directions when asked about their surroundings. By combining these functionalities, the Glasses not only empower visually impaired users to navigate social interactions more effectively but also help them independently traverse their environment.
