A quantitative study of college and university students’ satisfaction with song programs in the 2021 Henan Spring Festival Gala based on Postoccupancy Evaluation Theory
After years of insignificant social impact, the Henan Spring Festival Gala suddenly became an enormous success in China in 2021, attracting nationwide attention. This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the audience satisfaction with the song programs of the 2021 Henan Spring Festival Gala and explore the reasons why it became such a national phenomenon. Given the importance of the Spring Festival Gala in Chinese culture and the lack of quantitative research on program satisfaction, this study adopted the Postoccupancy Evaluation (POE) theory to construct an evaluation model. Through a questionnaire survey among college and university students in Henan Province, combined with the expert weight composition, SPSSAU was used for data analysis. The results showed that college and university students were generally satisfied with the innovative song programs of the 2021 Henan Spring Festival Gala. This study suggested that to improve the quality of the song programs, the latest technological means should be utilized to broaden the diversified interpretation of the programs, the singing methods should be innovated, and different musical elements should be introduced. It was hoped that this study could enrich the quantitative research methods of music programs, provide some implications for future improvement of the Henan Spring Festival Gala and be helpful for those who study audience satisfaction with similar cultural programs.
