Empowering the academic dignity through inclusive education for students with disabilities

Children with disabilities are recognized as an integral part of the community, and their differences in condition and ability are seen as exemplifying the diversity of nature. As inherently valuable individuals, children with special needs are acknowledged for their unique endowments. Inclusive education is designed to promote their dignity and ensure meaningful integration into society. In this study, the impact of inclusive education on children with special needs in primary schools was examined. The research was conducted over one semester in seven primary schools, using observational methods and data collection through observation, interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques and non-parametric statistics. It was found that inclusive education effectively mitigated learning difficulties and enhanced the academic performance of children with special needs. Additionally, improvements were noted in attendance, motivation, and cooperation between children with special needs and their peers. The implementation of inclusive education was shown to significantly enhance teachers' understanding of individualized learning approaches, thereby improving learning outcomes. Overall, it was demonstrated that inclusive education not only improves the academic achievements of children with special needs but also upholds their dignity, enabling them to realize their potential and secure a better future.
