An Embedded core of Content-based maskable CAM exploring Longest Prefix Match fashion
Although TCAM is a well-researched memory LSI amenable to search with Longest Prefix Match (LPM), its restricted usage is within the address-based classification for the network routers. Our research group considers further development from address-based to content-based, knowledge-based and beyond. Those advanced searches have been the urgent feature desired from text, audio, images and videos recognitions in recent years. In this paper, we discuss and challenge the content-based LPM. Also, a unique embedded core examined in the experimental FPGA design is reported.
