Exploring Higher-Order Interactions at Different Resolutions in Cardiovascular Dynamic Networks
Here we analyze higher-order interactions (HOIs) in dynamic cardiovascular networks described by the variability of heart period, systolic and diastolic arterial pressure, cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance at rest and during orthostatic and mental stress. We employ an integrated exploration of the emergent redundant/synergistic character of HOIs both across the entire networks and at the level of individual links and nodes. Our results reveal an heterogeneous and state-dependent distribution of HOIs, reflecting the influence of stress-induced sympathetic activation on cardiovascular oscillations.
