Towards Sustainable Waste Management: EfficientNetB0 Garbage Classification Model

The swift rise in trash production in recent times has presented formidable obstacles to efficient garbage handling and ecological sustainability. Conventional garbage sorting techniques are labor-intensive and frequently imprecise, which increases environmental contamination and inefficiency in recycling operations. The EfficientNetB0 rubbish Sorter, a cutting-edge deep learning-based system intended to transform waste management through automated and incredibly precise rubbish classification, is presented in this paper. Known for its optimal performance and computational efficiency, the EfficientNetB0 model is used to categorize different waste materials into different categories, including organic trash, paper, plastic, metal, and glass. The model maintains a low computational footprint and produces higher classification accuracy by using a huge dataset of tagged garbage photos for fine-tuning and transfer learning. The EfficientNetB0 Garbage Sorter outperforms existing approaches, as demonstrated by experimental findings, which show an excellent classification accuracy of over 99%. Extensive testing is also used to confirm the system's resilience to changes in trash appearance and its generalizability across various waste types. Furthermore, the model's practical application in automated garbage sorting facilities is guaranteed by its real-time categorization capacity. By using the EfficientNetB0 Garbage Sorter, waste sorting operations will be more effective overall, requiring less manual work, and waste sorting activities will be more efficient. This novel approach advances the overarching objectives of sustainable resource management and environmental preservation by enabling more precise and effective trash classification.
