Magnetic sensors with application in lithium ion batteries (LIBs)
Lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are currently the fastest growing devices in the international battery market and the preferred energy storage system for applications in industries, including power systems for sustainable vehicles such as hybrid and electric vehicles, electric aircraft, small and medium-sized electronic devices and smart healthcare [1]. Magnetism is one of the forces that can be used to improve performance, since the use of magnetic fields influences electrochemical reactions through the variation of the properties of the electrolyte, as well as mass conduction, kinetics of the electrodes, among others [2]. LIBs have been widely applied in a variety of industries, including smart healthcare, small and medium-sized electronic devices, to name a few [3]. In this article we will talk about the characteristics that magnetic sensors must have such as sensitivity, dynamic range, stability, among others. It will explore using different sensor technologies. The objective of this article is to present the different types of magnetic sensors for the direct and non-invasive reading of the magnetic field of Li-ion batteries.
